Los Altos

Los Altos, which means “The Heights” in Spanish, was once a rustic and rural community abundant with apricot orchards, vineyards and ranches. This city, with close to 30,000 residents, is a charming, residential town of about 7 square miles. Located at the southern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, Los Altos is a suburb rich in culture and history that many Silicon Valley workers call home. With a quaint downtown, office parks along two of the main thoroughfares (Foothill Expressway and El Camino Real), and shopping areas scattered throughout the city, Los Altos conjures the small-town atmosphere. The neighborhoods of Los Altos are divided into four main areas: North Los Altos, South of El Monte, Country Club, and The Highlands/Woodland Acres. Extensive biking and walking trails exist throughout the city that connect to neighboring cities.
